Zero
When was ZERO orginally formed?
Zero was orginally known as FSL Factory, which had been around since the field opened. The team had expanded and changed, the only orginal FSL Factory member was AJ
Who else was on the orginal FSL team?
Fatsack, Lunny, Doyle, Matt Holland, Jake & Eddie
By the time the team became known as ZERO who were the core players?
Jerrod, Craig, Mark, AJ, Josh
Who decided to bring back the team?
AJ had been coaching some players up at Northside & around that time Vince was talking about putting a team together to play nationally as he always was. Doyle ended up organizing everyone together and we decided to bring back the Zero name
So of the current roster are their any orginal members?
The orginal Zero players are AJ, Josh & Craig, however Doyle has been around since FSL Factory & they played as DoylesPball.com at World Cup 2008
What has ZERO accomplished?
The orginal team has won a bunch of locals back in thier day, during the off season we rebuilt the team. So far we’ve got two for two on podium finishes in 2011.
How has the team grown?
We picked up a lot of dedicated players that were always up at Northside practicing as well as a few more seasoned players. We’ll always look at picking up newer players & attempt to field teams on all levels for local events. The only way for us to grow the sport is to take in the younger players and give them an oppurtunity to grow.
How did the pump line form?
Our decision to compete with pump markers started with a pump only night, a number of us became hooked and decided it would be cool to actually play pump events. This was mainly led by Alex Schutkoske whom was trying to build a pump team at the time soon after we picked up Gordon Kuhnley (Cocker Punk) We made it out of prelims using just pumps in a Air Assault 3-Man.
What tournament series does ZERO plan on playing?
For 2011 our team plans on competing in Air Assault series & Sweet 15 locally, Our pump line plans on competing locally as well as in the NPPL Series. If things go well we will put a D3 7-Man team in for Vegas NPPL
Are you having open tryouts at all?
All tryouts are private, players will be looked at based on skill level and the teams needs, one important requirement is that all players have money to play on a serious level.
Why is it important that they have money? Shouldn’t the sponsors pay for them to play?
Paintball is an expensive sport, especially when you start traveling for national events. To think that someone is going to pay for you to play as a D3 team is completely unreasonable. We do the best we can to support our sponsors & we’re thankful for what they can offer us but no one should expect thier sponsors to flip the bill.
Who are some of your sponsors?
We’re proud to have Vintage Paintball Park as a home field for 2011, We are also sponsored by Empire Paintball, KEE Action Sports, DoylesPaintball.com & LLPaintball.com We will be using Empire Goggles, Pants, Packs, and loaders this season.
So your team is going from being a “Northside” team to being a Vintage Paintball team?
I wouldn’t say that we were ever really a Northside team, we simply have players whom have played at Northside in the past. I dont think where a team’s home field is should define who they are as a team, we will strive to travel around and play other teams at thier fields but are very excited to have oppurtunity to play at Vintage Paintball Park. We feel this will be a the premier field, and will bring paintball to a whole new level in Minnesota.
Who are your rivals?
As a team we feel it is going to be important to play against the best of teams in our area in order to get better. We look forward to trading paint with Air Assault, Hostile Ground, Fargo United, Superior, SX,, Time Machine, Warbirds, and hopefully some newer up and coming teams.
