How long have you been playing paintball and how did you get started?Pat Shelton

Started playing around 8th grade. One day went to splatball indoor with a buddy from school, there I meet Reed Wilson and that cat and I have been playing ever sense

What was paintball like back when you started, and how has it changed for you over the years?

Lots of snatch grips and hip shooting. Now you throw your tank on you shoulder, roll up your pants and call it a day.

What tournament series & division do you currently play in?

This year I have been playing d3xball with Dirtlife in the Vicious series and the PSP

What teams have you played for in the past? And who do you play for now?

Splatball kids, Air Assault, Sin City paintball, plenty of others. Now I play for Dirtlife out of St Louis

How often do you practice per week and how far do you have to travel to practice?

I like to get out and play at least once a week if not two. Typically the drive to St Louis takes about 11 hours going with the wind.

What was your greatest achievement so far in your paintball career? What events have you won?

Ha its been way to long ago, but I would have to say winning MAO 07 with Sin City paintball takes the cake.

What was the best prize package you’ve ever won?

I would have to say winning the Vicious series got us pretty set for the rest of the year. We get World Cup nearly completely paid for, which is nice because free paintball is hard to come by these days if not impossible.

What gun do you use, and why do you like it?

Tricky question, I own a luxe but that thing would work better if I just threw it at people. At the moment I just use team guns from the cats on Dirtlife. They all use ego 10s or geo 2 so its pretty fly, those guns are ridiculously consistent and reliable.

What suggestions do you have for new players?

Never quit and play with heart.

Are there any people who have been influential on your playing style? Who are they and how have they impacted your game?

Aaron Tholey once told me never to leave the field without at least one kill, I took that to heart and strive for it every time I go on the field.

What do you think your greatest strength in paintball is? What do you need improvement on?

Gun skills and field awareness are probably on my stronger side. I know I have to work on keeping my cool, because I can get buck wild out there.

What position do you currently play on the field? Why do you think your team has placed you in that role?

Well at MAO I was playing snake side, but to be honest I like playing whereever I think I can make the most impact and get my team the win

What do you think needs to happen in Minnesota to develop divisional teams that will be able to compete nationally?

Heart, determination and consistency

Finally what MN Paintball player (Past or Present) would you like to see featured next?

Reed Wilson
