Why do you play paintball?Marcus Patterson

I play paintball because it gives you a rush like no other sport its fast, hot ,dirty and competitive as hell!I think it takes a lot of heart and commitment, and if you can stick with it, then it will pay off in the end.

What is your home field, and what does it have to offer?

My home field will always be NorthSide Sports in Ramsey, MN, Currently im in Omaha, NE for school so I play at MPG.

What tournament series & division do you currently play in?

I  currently play D3x in the Vicious series and PSP. I’m looking forward to play d2 for world cup, I feel like I have the potential to do well in the d2 division.

What teams have you played for in the past? And who do you play for now?

Lol well it all started on TC starz haha, it was my first team and I was a captain on it with my long-time friend Brett Udovich. Then I played for the MN Power Rangers, then I got a little bit more serious , playing for Time Machine and Absolute, I’ve also played for MW arson out of Chicago and I currently play for Hell Bound and will be playing with University of Omaha paintball team next spring with a couple of guys from Vicious and DSS.

How often do you practice per week and how far do you have to travel to practice?

I practice two times a week with Vicious and DSS @ MPG which is about 10 mins from my house. So I would say I lucked out as far as distance.

What was the best prize package you’ve ever won?

Won like 1500 for 2nd place in a MWPPA event.

What is your best memory in paintball?

Taking 50 snake off break and shooting my mirror and his corner then finishing off the rest of his team with a sweet dive move into their S1.

What suggestions do you have for new players?

Dont give up!! Paintball is a very competitive sport and sometimes you may feel like quitting, but keep your head up, practice harder and ALWAYS be ready to give it that EXTRA push, I think if you keep pushing yourself you will become that player you wanna be!

Describe your style of play on the field.

I’m very aggressive, I love to push up the snake as fast and as far as I can. Being smart and calm is also key in my play style. Mistakes are prone to happen if you are not smart and patient.

Are there any people who have been influential on your playing style? Who are they and how have they impacted your game?

Haha yes my homie Ronnie Dizon and Dan Gep both are great players and smart and very methodical on the field. Dan Norcross is also a key in my play style. I watch his moves and he is a great teacher he has taught me to stay calm while gun fighting. Last but not least is Nick Slowiak he has a love for the game and it shows when you play next him. He also  a great player but he is a very humble person.

What do you think your greatest strength in paintball is? What do you need improvement on?

I believe my greatest strength is knowledge of the game, while being able to adjust under pressure to bring results.

What position do you currently play on the field? Why do you think your team has placed you in that role?

I play the snake, I’ve recently switch to playing snake about a year and half ago, I like be the game changer it makes you feel important but its also a very hard job, and you must remain calm and collective. I believe my team puts me there to control the game, they also rely on me to get those hard to get kills to open up plays to change the game.

What do you think needs to happen in Minnesota to develop divisional teams that will be able to compete nationally?

Haha Well I believe air assault should help more teams in MN, I mean hold clinics and just teach kids how to play, also there needs to be a universal place for players to play. Air Assault only practices against certain teams which is the downfall of MN paintball.

Outside of paintball, what do you do for a living?

Im a outgoing kinda guy I like to chill with my friends and im currently enrolled in University of Nebraska so im still figuring out what I want to be.

Finally what MN Paintball player (Past or Present) would you like to see featured next?

Josh Patterson.
